William Chinn Interview


William Chinn taught mathematics for many years at both the high school and college levels in San Francisco, California. In the 1960s he was heavily involved with Edward Begle’s School Mathematics Study Group (SMSG). His participation included visits to secondary schools classrooms, writing SMSG text material, and co-authoring a book with Norman Steenrod (First Concepts of Topology) for SMSG’s New Mathematical Library. In the interview Dr. Chinn describes these experiences, as well as his education and his experiences serving in the Army in World War II.
