 American SouthThe University of Texas began collecting materials on the history of Texas and of the American South soon after it opened in 1883. In 1914, Major George W. Littlefield, a
Confederate veteran and University Regent, donated funds to the University to promote those efforts. Over the years, the Littlefield Fund for Southern History enabled the University to assemble a
major collection on the history of the South to support research, teaching, and publications |  Archives of American MathematicsAs the only archival repository in the United States solely dedicated to collecting and preserving the papers and records of mathematicians and mathematical
organizations, the AAM is the premier resource for researchers seeking primary sources in mathematics. |  Civil Rights & Social JusticeAmong the Center's major research strengths is the history of social justice movements in the United States, including the civil rights movement. |  Congressional & PoliticalThe Congressional and Political History Collections acquire, preserve, and make available for research archival materials for studies in congressional and state political
history. The collections have a special focus on significant elected officials from Texas, including the Texas Congressional delegation, Texas governors, and House
Speakers. |  Energy & Natural ResourcesThe American Energy History Collections consists of corporate archives, organizational records, personal papers and oral histories that provide a comprehensive view of
the energy industry and its influence on Texas, the nation and the world. |  Military HistoryThe Briscoe Center has constituted a prime source for military history since its founding. All together, the Center's resources embrace more than three-hundred years of
military affairs, including many aspects of America's involvement in foreign wars, from Mexico to Iraq. |  MusicThe Briscoe Center has long emphasized the development of its music resources as an integral part of its mission to document the historical experience of the American
people. Since 1980, the Center has been building extensive research collections of folk and popular music of Texas and the greater South and Southwest in its efforts to trace the development of
different musical styles and of the music industry itself. |  News Media HistoryThe Dolph Briscoe Center is home to one of the largest collections of archival materials related to the history of the news media. One of the most comprehensive
collections in existence, it includes personal papers of media industry pioneers, research archives, newspapers, and an unmatched collection of photojournalists. |  Texas HistoryThe Eugene C. Barker Texas History Collection was created in 1945 and named in honor of University of Texas professor Eugene Campbell Barker, a pioneer in the field of
Texas history. The Barker Collection includes books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, photographs, broadsides, and recorded sound and constitutes the most extensive collection of Texas-related
material in existence. |  Touring EntertainmentThe Professional Touring Entertainment Industry Archive was created in 1995 to document the history of touring entertainment companies and those venues and arenas in
which acts were presented. The Archive is supported by the Society for the Preservation of Professional Touring Entertainment History, which assists Center staff in identifying and acquiring
relevant collections in order to insure the on–going documentation of the touring entertainment industry's history. |
